I’ve always enjoyed storytelling. To me, it was like I was traveling to a different world using only my imagination. I am a fiction writer and I am inspired by Octavia Butler, Toni Morrison, Zora Neale Hurston, and Suzanne Collins. My writing is typically eerie, humorous, spiritual, and jarring with a goal to stir up multiple emotions in my readers. However, my audience is not specific. People who enjoy magical realism, dystopian fiction, or black characters in positions of power and magic may enjoy my writing.

I have always been interested in worlds outside of the ones we know and live in everyday, and magical realism and dystopian fiction allow me to explore that. There is a magical realism movement taking place amongst the black literature community, and that is something I hope to contribute to. This is my community, and I want to be another author that inspires the next little black boy or girl to hoan in on their creative magic through the stories that I write.
